Mae Hong Son or MaeHongSon or Mae Hong Sorn (แม่ฮ่องสอน) is a Northern Province in Thailand, near Chiang Mai. Thai People call Mae Hong Son, the city in the fog, the Foggy City or the Thai Switzerland because Mae Hong Son is full of fresh air, unpolluted like most cities in Thailand. Mae Hong Son town is small, quiet and peaceful. Most of the hilltribe villages in Mae Hong Son have not been heavily visited by tourists.
Long Neck Village in Mae Hong Son
The most visited Hill tribe village in Mae Hong Son is the Karen village (pronounced Kaa Riang, not Ka-Ren like in a woman’s name). The Karen (Ka Riang or Ga Riang) village is the village of the long neck tribe.

Apart from many hilltribe villages and the long neck village, there is a temple on a hill overlooking Mae Hong Son. This temple has great view. There are a few temples side by side. Mae Hong Son is a great place to learn about the culture of Thailand.
