Chiangmai Thailand
Chiangmai is a famous Northern province of
Thailand. Chiangmai has also been named the Northern Cultural
center of Thailand. With a recent Prime Minister of Thailand
being from Chiangmai, Chiangmai has received funds in the past
years and have improved in many ways.
How is Chiangmai, Thailand?
While Chiangmai is a cultural city in the
North of Thailand, it is still a province or countryside so
don't expect civilization that you see in Bangkok. Tourism is a
major part of Chiangmai nowadays and everywhere you go, people
in Chiangmai will try to sell you something especially in the
Chiang Mai Night Bazaar or in the Handicraft villages. Like the
rest of the world and Thailand, people in Chiangmai struggle to
make ends meet by any means necessary. Petty thefts are common
so when you visit Chiangmai, watch your belongings closely.
As a smaller and less complicated city
than Bangkok, people in Chiangmai are usually more friendly but
you never know if they will try to sell you something in the
end. The locals tend to know one another as they often talk
unlike people in Bangkok who often keep to themselves more.
Do people in Chiangmai speak English?
Most people in Chiangmai do not speak
English. Some may have learned a few words but if ask about
something new, they would not understand you even at prestige
hotels such as the Chedi Hotel Chiangmai. The staff can say
hello and tell you about your room but if you ask about other
things, you will be hung up on. People in Bangkok are generally
more polite than people in Chiangmai.
Many parts of Chiangmai Thailand is not that
different from busy streets of Bangkok, just less sky high
buildings. Below are pictures of Chiangmai Thailand.
