Do Thailand' s People Eat Cats and
Dogs?
Do people in Thailand eat cats and dogs?
No. People in Thailand think that eating
cats and dogs are gross. After all, there are so many diseases
that could come from eating meat from cats or dogs such as the
outbreak of SAR. The prospect of getting diseases from eating
cats or dogs scare people in Thailand from eating cats and
dogs.

People in
Bangkok are more civilized than people in the
countryside of Thailand. In Bangkok, people are
much much less likely to eat weird food whereas
if you go up North or South, you are likely to
see weird food or insects eaten that you won't
see in Bangkok.

As for cats, people in Thailand prefer dogs.
Cats are often found on the street, astray and not cute
looking. Cats in Thailand are not as cute as fluffy cats in the
US so people are less likely to have the as pets.

Dogs have
been around in Thailand as pets for a long
time. However, nowadays there are more cuter
breeds of dogs on sale in Thailand, making
people even more likely to think about eating
dogs. Dogs are now known as pets rather than
street dogs that are often adopted by monks at
temples out of sympathy.

There are however still many street dogs
that are very dirty and ugly on the street of Thailand. These
dogs often have diseases. They are often beaten up, starved and
had nowhere to go but to rummage rubbish that they could find.
Most people in Thailand grow up seeing street dogs and not the
puff balls, cute pet dogs that people in the US are used
to.
