Thailand Christmas Food
You will be amazed what Thailand Christmas
food is like. For a Buddhist country, Thailand surprisingly has
tons of Christmas food and other Christmas celebrations. Being
a country that adopt every great cultures, Thailand Christmas
food comprises of Christmas food found in other civilized
countries including American Christmas food and British or
English Christmas food. However, great Thailand Christmas food
is only found in Bangkok. Other parts of Thailand have not
adopted international cuisine enough to offer a wide range of
Christmas food.
In Bangkok, for example, you will find many
hotels with Christmas menus as you would in big cities in the
United States. Turkey is very common in exquisite Thai
restaurants on their Christmas menu. Also, while it is hard to
find British or English Christmas food in the US, in Thailand,
it is easy. Christmas pudding and mince pie, British favorite
Christmas food, for example, are rare in most parts of the US
but in Thailand, you will find Christmas pudding in local
supermarkets just as you would in England. Christmas parties
are also common.
Since Thai people love to celebrate, Thai
people who have western connections or love western food such
as Turkey will go out for Christmas dinner. However, most Thai
people will wait to celebrate New Year's Eve and New Year Day
with their biggest meal of the year.
Traditional Thailand' s Christmas Food
Since Thai people eat rice, noodles, and
curry (among other heavy foods) everyday for every meal, it is
not rare to find Thai spicy foods such as Pad Thai or Thai Red
Curry on the menu for Christmas. Also, most local, small
restaurants won't even have different Christmas food on the
menu for Christmas as most Thai people don't like Western food
as much as Thai food and for small restaurants that are not
tailored for foreigners they won't sell the food well if they
have tons of western foods on the menu.
Bear in mind that if a Thai person has not
traveled abroad or spent some time abroad, it is unlikely that
they will like eating western food. Thai people love Thai food
(which is understandable - Thai food is delicious) and out of
choice will always eat Thai food. The next popular type of food
in Thailand is Italian food. American Steaks or Turkey are not
Thailand 's favorite foods.

So, to sum up. If you go to a French
restaurant in Thailand (mostly Bangkok), expect to find what
you would on a Christmas menu in France. If you go to an
American steak house in Bangkok, expect to find what you would
on a Christmas menu in a revered steak house in the US there.
If you go to a high class Thai restaurant, expect to find
special Thai foods there on the Christmas menu. And, if you go
to a normal restaurant tailored for local Thai people, don't
expect any Christmas food on the menu - Christmas food won't
sell well to local Thais.
