Tham Pla Fish Cave
Tham Pla or Fish Cave is a popular attraction of Mae Hong Son. There are many caves in Mae Hong Son but Tham Pla has attracted more tourists than other caves. Tham Pla is a Thai word meaning Fish Cave. Tham is a cave in Thai and Pla is a fish in Thai. Most tour companies will have a tour going to Tham Pla or Fish Cave. Some Mae Hong Sorn tours may include other caves and area interests.
Tham Pla (Tum Pla or Fish Cave)
Tham Pla or Fish Cave in Mae Hong Son is about 17 kilometres from town on Highway No. 1095 (Mae Hong Son-Pai). Tham Pla is not an ordinary cave that one might expect when visiting a cave. The surrounding areas of Tham Pla are brooks and cool hilly forests suitable for relaxation.
Tham Pla is called Tham Pla or fish cave because of the hollow cave filled with numerous freshwater fish known as Pla Mung or Pla Khang, which is of the same family as the carp. The fish are quite safe from being caught as they are believed to belong to the gods. Anyone causing harm to the fish or eating the fish from the Fish Cave will be met with ill fortune. There are tons of fish in the Tham Pla or Fish Cave. The water is clear and transparent making the fish easy to see. The fish are not afraid of people. They come up to the surface hoping to get some food.

Namtok Pha Suea
Namtok Pha Suea is a waterfall in Tambon Mokchampae in Mae Hong Son about 26 kilometres from the provincial seat on Route 1095 to Pai district with a left turn at Km. 191. It is a large fall with its water source in Myanmar and runs full during the late rainy season (August-September).
