Wat Phou

The Wat Phou history dates back in early Laotian history. Wat Phou or Vat Phu (also Vat Phou) is a ruined Khmer temple in Southern Laos. You can take a Mekong River cruise from Thailand to Wat Phou in Laos from Chiangmai or Chiangrai.

When was Wat Phou built?

Wat Phou is an ancient temple. There was a temple of the site as early as the 5th century. However, those temples were all destroyed and the only surviving structures on the Wat Phou site date from 11th to 13th centuries only.
