Lesson One: Thai Language Classes: Basic Thai Sentences

In our first Thai Language class, we will discuss basic Thai sentences.

Subject

Verb

Object

I play tennis
ฉัน เล่น เทนนิส
Chun len tane-nis

Simple Thai sentences are structured the same way as English sentences. A simple Thai sentence starts with a subject (I or chun in this case), follows by a verb to do something, and then object. In this case of simple Thai sentences, the verb is to play and the object is tennis.

Let’s look at more example of Thai sentences in order to understand how the Thai Language works.

Subject

Verb

Object

You eat hamburger
คุณ กิน แฮมเบอร์เกอร์
Khun gin ham – bur -gher

Again, start with the subject (you), follows by a verb (eat) and then the object (hamburger).

Subject

Verb

Object

She likes flowers
เธอ ชอบ ดอกไม้
Ter churb dork – mai

Similarly, in the above example, she is the subject, the verb is to like, and the object is flowers.
