Ang Thong in Thailand or Mu Ko Ang Thong (Mu Koh Ang Thong) is located in Tambon Ang Thong, Amphur Koh Samui, Suratthani Province in Thailand. Ang Thong, Thailand, is home to the Ang Thong National Park which was designated the 21th national park of Thailand on November 12, 1980. The Ang Thong National Park covers an area of 102 km2 and 82% of that area of about 84 km2 is marine.

Ang Thong National Park consists of 42 islands mostly high steep limestone mountains lined up from north to south.

How to get to Ang Thong, Thailand?

There are daily ferry services from Bo Pud Pier and Naa Thorn Pier on Koh Samui to Ang Thong. The journey from Ko Samui to Ang Thong and Ang Thong National Park takes about an hour and a half by small boat. The journey is rocky so take sea sick pills before you leave if you are likely to get seasick.

Where to stay in Ang Thong?

Ang Thong National Park has bungalows, campsites and other facilities for accommodation. However, there is nothing fancy and civilized. You really have to like hiking and nature to stay in Ang Thong. Once you are on Ang Thong islands, there may not be emergency ways to leave because you have to wait for the next boat to come which can be a long wait at times. For tourists who like luxury and comfort, it may not be wise to visit Ang Thong and Ang Thong National Park at this time.
